Mafalda's is a branding project of an Italian Bar based on the film Call Me By Your Name by Luca Guadagnino. The film is set in the summer of 1983 in northern Italy, in the 17th-century villa of the Perlman household. Call Me By Your Name is a film filled with food, be it the iconic peach or the linen-clothed tables filled with the remains of sumptuous breakfasts. Communal and important moments between characters happen around the table. Mafalda is the cook in the Perlman household, she appears in multiple scenes preparing the dishes, setting the table and serving the food.
This project takes on the fictional approach of extending the narrative of the film, to create a make believe brand if Mafalda were to have her own eatery. The art direction and typography of the project takes on a more vintage approach, in order to keep true to the 80s time period of the film.
